Blood Trail

Blood Trail, Nancy Springer 2003

50 page update

Throughout the first 50 pages of the book the reader can easily see the main character start to develop. The setting of the story is in Pinto River, California. It is a small town kind of like Whitehall, everyone knows everyone. The main character is Jermey, he is a high school senior, who plays football, his parents are divorced and he lives with his mom and little sister. Jermey is out riding with his friend Aaron Gingrich, he is another senior and a fellow football player, he lives with his parents and has two siblings. They both are swimming a pond that is close to the river, and playing one of their favorite games, crawdad fights.

After a prolonged fight Aaron stoped and sat down. This kind of freaked Jermey out, because he had never seen Aaron just stop like he did. Jermey sat by him and asked what was wrong, Aaron said that he was scared. He was scared to go home. He was afraid of Nathan ( his brother). At first Jermey thouht that it was a joke, but then realized that Aaron was serious. Aaron asked Jermey to call him in about twenty minutes when they both got home. Little did Jermey know that this would be the last time that the two friends saw each other.

The two go their separate ways and Jermey gets home and his little sister is playing with her friends. Jermey goes and showers, and then calls Aaron. Nobody awnsers the first time so he starts to panic. Finally someone awnsers and it's Nathan. Jermey asks: "is Aaron there?" No. "Well do you know where he is?" I have to go. Then there is a cop car, and a ambulance that go speeding by. Jermey goes and gets on his bike and goes over to Aarons house. There is a big crowd in front of the house and everone is just starring. Jermey asks one of the people in the crowd and the man says: "Kids dead."
