Reading History

I like to read. Im sure that not many other students would agree with me. When I was in elementry I would read alot. I would sit at home on a saturday and just read. My favorite books were "The Hardy Boys." I have read almost all of them. My least favorite book is probably Treasure Island. Im not sure why, but it just doesnt appeal to me. I read on my couch mostly, but sometimes I will read on my bed.

Favorite parts

My favorite part of the book is when Jermey is taking the lie detector test. This is when the truth comes out and the whole town finds out who the real killer is.

My least favorite part is about half way through the book when Jermey and his family go to the funeral. And the Gingriches are calling him Judas and other bad things. He was just telling the truth.

I would recomend this book to someone who likes murder mystery books. Anyone that likes a intense book would enjoy this book. Its a good read, and an easy plot to understand.

Archetypal

There were a lot of characters in this story dispite how short it is. But there were only a few that made a impact in the story.

The main character is Jermey. He fits the seeker profile. All along he thinks that someone else killed Aaron dispite all logical evidence. In the end he realizes that there is no serial killer on the loose, it was Nathan from the beginning.

The next character is Jermeys dad. He is a sage because of his endless knowledge of the law, the town and the crime scene. In turn he comforts Jermey into beliving in what is right and even more important, beliving in himself.

The third character is Nathan. He is obviously the villan, or destroyer. Throughout the story he never makes any contact with Jermey the main. He is the silent menace like a vampire.

The only other caracter that is worth mentioning is Aaron he is a magician. He is good and helps Jermey though his journey even though he doesnt know it.

150 page update

Jermey and his family attend Aarons funeral, along with the rest of the town. Everone that was there hated him, they all said he was a dirty liar. His football coach and a few of the other players talk and sit with him during the funeral. He zones out and startes to think that maybe it was all just a mistake and someone else had come into the house and killed Aaron. He starts to belive that everything was just a big mistake and the real killer is still out there. After the funeral he tries to go over to the cemetary and watch Aaron get burried, but Mr. Gingrich ( Aarons dad) was very angery with Jermey for being there and says: "Judas! How dare you show your face. Get out. Get away from him. Don't you ever-". The only reason why Jermey didnt do anything was because he was so tired of all the stuff that had been going on. His football coach takes him home and when he gets home, someone had egged the house. That night he had a horible dream about Aaron. He watched him get killed, but it wasnt Nathan that did it, it was someone else.

It had been about a month now since Aaron died, and Cnn and USA today had come to Pinto River ( the town he lived in). They offered to interview Jermey, but he refuse, and life had pretty much gone back to normal. He was walking home one day and the Gingrichs drove by, and just stared at him with a very cold look. He went a little crazy, and slammed into the house. His little sister Jamy had left her pumpkin on the corner of the counter, he grabbed the biggest bucher kife out of the drawer and sent on stabing it. Jamy came in the door and screamed. "What the--, thats my pumpkin!" Arn't you suppose to be at work, what are you doing? He turned with the knife in his hands and said, "Practicing!" She ran upstairs, and he kept on stabing the pumpkin. But eventually he got tired and stoped what he was doing and put the knife down. Then Jamy came downstairs with a rubber knife, that had lipstick on it, and started attacking him. " What are you doing?" He said. "I am killing you!" Jermey froze, he could'nt and would'nt lay a had on her. Now he knew what Aaron had felt like when Nathan had attacked him. His mom came home, and didnt say much. Jermey started to realize, that it would take pure hate to do something like what Nathan did.

There was a gathering at the football stadium that week, Jermey and his whole family went to it. About 90% of the people that lived in the town were there. But it was quite, even more quite than the funeral had been. There were TV Crews, Cnn and photographers everywhere. The Gingriches were doing everything in there power to make Nathan look like a loving brother. His mom said,m "It's bad enough they lost their one son the way they did. They can't let themselves lose both their boy's." All of a suden Jermy stood up and said: I can't take this, ill walk home. Once he got out of the bleachers, and the stadium he took off running and didnt stop. He ran to the river where he had been with Aaron before he died. After a little while his mom and sister drive up in there car and sit down with him. They all kind of zone off and think about Aaron and how things had been. And thats the end.

100 page update

Jermey goes to the police when he finds out that his friend was killed. He gives a written statement and does a lie detector test. The police belive that it was Aarons brother that killed him. And dispite all of the obvious evidence, like: 73 stap wounds, only two sets of footprints, and blood on the phone. Most people still think that Jermey is lying, and there was no possible way Nathan did it. It naturally doesnt make any sense, but with all the corroborating evidence it is obvious.

Within about a day Jermey and his family start to get hate calls. And not long after that people would egg, and vandalize the house. Jermey is afraid so he turns to his dad. His dad is divorced, and works security at the county courthouse. Jermey asks his dad for a gun to protect himself but his dad refuses to give him one, on the basis that it would be illegal, and they both would get in serious trouble. His dad aslo tells him everything that he has heard throughout the past few days. And he bascially tells him that no matter what he had said, the truth would have been discovered eathier way. This comfortes Jermey a great deal, and he is able to deal with all the pressures that have been placed apon his shoulders.

Blood Trail

Blood Trail, Nancy Springer 2003

50 page update

Throughout the first 50 pages of the book the reader can easily see the main character start to develop. The setting of the story is in Pinto River, California. It is a small town kind of like Whitehall, everyone knows everyone. The main character is Jermey, he is a high school senior, who plays football, his parents are divorced and he lives with his mom and little sister. Jermey is out riding with his friend Aaron Gingrich, he is another senior and a fellow football player, he lives with his parents and has two siblings. They both are swimming a pond that is close to the river, and playing one of their favorite games, crawdad fights.

After a prolonged fight Aaron stoped and sat down. This kind of freaked Jermey out, because he had never seen Aaron just stop like he did. Jermey sat by him and asked what was wrong, Aaron said that he was scared. He was scared to go home. He was afraid of Nathan ( his brother). At first Jermey thouht that it was a joke, but then realized that Aaron was serious. Aaron asked Jermey to call him in about twenty minutes when they both got home. Little did Jermey know that this would be the last time that the two friends saw each other.

The two go their separate ways and Jermey gets home and his little sister is playing with her friends. Jermey goes and showers, and then calls Aaron. Nobody awnsers the first time so he starts to panic. Finally someone awnsers and it's Nathan. Jermey asks: "is Aaron there?" No. "Well do you know where he is?" I have to go. Then there is a cop car, and a ambulance that go speeding by. Jermey goes and gets on his bike and goes over to Aarons house. There is a big crowd in front of the house and everone is just starring. Jermey asks one of the people in the crowd and the man says: "Kids dead."
